Frequently asked Questions

Polycarbonate and Polyester are ideal solutions for outdoor labels due to their great durability, weather resistance, UV resistance, and temperature resistance. These materials are extremely long-lasting and typically provide greater flexibility to other materials, such as metals. These properties ensure durable solutions that are able to hold their design detail and quality when faced with these conditions. We have a wide range of high-quality materials available, as well as multiple specialist processes to ensure we will have the best solution for your outdoor labelling needs. Take a look at our website or contact us for more information on the labels we have available!
The biggest difference between Polyester and Polycarbonate is their durability and best applications. Polyester offers enhanced chemical/abrasion resistance, as well as improved flexibility, in harsh environments. Polycarbonate is ideal for embossing due to its improved flexibility/formability, whilst also delivering great optical clarity and higher impact resistance for branding. For applications and environments that require a tougher, longer-lasting solution, Polyester is an ideal choice. For better visual quality and high clarity, such as for user interfaces, Polycarbonate is the better solution. At GSM Graphic Arts, we have solutions for both situations. Please get in touch with our team if you require further assistance.
Both digital printing and screen printing offer a wide range of benefits, depending on your requirements and needs. Digitally printed solutions are often preferred to screen printing where lower volumes, high detail and complex designs are essential or unique data, serial numbers & barcodes required. At GSM Graphic Arts, we always work to meet tight deadlines without compromising on product quality. Digital printing typically offers faster turnaround times with no drying time and minimal setup.
We offer a comprehensive range of adhesives to suit your requirement. Standard adhesive such as 3M 467 and 468 adhesives are generally used for most applications however, we also offer a range of high-performance and LE adhesives. LE adhesives are more suited for labels to be applied to low surface energy substrates such as Polypropylene and certain Powder Coated finishes. We can also provide screen printed adhesives which can be printed to selected areas leaving windows and switch areas free from adhesive. Speak with our Sales Team to discuss the right adhesive for your application.
The best material to use for your label will depend solely on the environments and applications it will be used in. There are many considerations that go into what material you should use for your label, such as the environment, weather, chemical exposure, and much more. Metal labels are ideal for applications that are likely to face a lot of wear and tear, such as scrapes, intense heat, or harsh weather conditions, providing good resistance to deformity. The types of metals we typically use include aluminium, stainless steel and brass. Plastic labels deliver improved flexibility and resilience compared to metal labels. Plastics, like polyester and polycarbonate, provide a more lightweight solution to metal, and also have excellent durability against scratches and UV. Explore our website for more information on the different materials we use and which may be better suited to your needs.
